Pulwama attack: A tribute for our true heroes who protect our country
On 14 February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora (near Awantipora) in the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The attack resulted in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and the attacker. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed. A local youth named Adil Ahmed Dar was identified as the attacker.
Two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist were killed: Identified as Kamran, a Pakistani national and top commander of the Jaish, and Hilal Ahmad, a local recruited by the terror group, PTI reported. Kamran’s role in the February 14 suicide bombing of a CRPF convoy was under the scanner of investigators.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area during the night after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
A cordon and search operation by the security forces have also been launched in village Krawora in Shopian.
Traders’ body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called for a nationwide strike on Monday to express solidarity with the families of 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack last week. In a statement issued yesterday, the CAIT said that commercial markets will remain closed and there will be no business activity through out the day.
Putting an end on any possibility of dialogue between Indian and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, said that the brutal terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district shows that time for talks with Pakistan has passed.
Two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants, including the commander who masterminded Thursday’s terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, were killed in an encounter in the south Kashmir district, in which four army personnel and a civilian also died.
Sources said Kamran, a Pakistani terrorist believed to have plotted the terror attack that killed 40 CRPF soldiers, and a local militant named Hilal have been killed in the gunfight in Pinglan area of Pulwama district. Another terrorist is still trapped, sources said.
As the nation mourned the death of the jawans, tributes started pouring in from all corners — from politicians to film stars and sports personalities.
