The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has initiated the process of crediting interest to provident fund (PF) accounts, as mentioned in their official statement. The interest rate for PF account investments during the financial year 2022-23 is set at 8.15%. While some users have already received their interest payouts, the EPFO acknowledges that it might take some time for the amount to reflect in all accounts.

The EPFO assured individuals that the interest will be accumulated and paid in full, ensuring no loss of interest. Union Labour Minister Bhupender Yadav confirmed that interest has been credited in over 24 crore accounts.

The PF interest rate is determined annually by the EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees (CBT) in consultation with the Ministry of Finance. This year, the interest rate announcement was made in July by the EPFO.

It’s worth noting that last year, the EPFO reduced..
the interest rate to a four-decade low of 8.10% for subscribers, down from 8.5% in 2020-21. This marked the lowest interest rate since 1977-78, when the EPF interest rate was at 8%.
