In a recent update to the Delhi Metro travel rules, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revised its policy on carrying liquor bottles inside the metro train. This shift allows passengers to transport two sealed bottles of liquor during their metro journey. However, it is crucial to note that both bottles must be completely sealed. The decision to implement this change was made following discussions between DMRC officials and representatives from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for managing the security of metro stations.

Prior to this revision, carrying liquor bottles in the Delhi Metro was prohibited. The only exception to this ban was observed on the Airport Express Line, where passengers, particularly air travelers, were permitted to travel with liquor purchased from the airport’s duty-free shop. With the recent decision, DMRC has extended this allowance to cover all metro lines, aligning the rules across the network. This modification was the result of collaborative discussions between CISF and DMRC officials.

Under the revised rules, passengers are granted permission to carry sealed bottles of alcohol within the metro premises. Each passenger is allowed to have two sealed alcohol bottles, emphasizing that consumption is strictly prohibited within the metro premises. DMRC has emphasized the need for passengers to exhibit appropriate behavior and decorum during their journey. Any passenger found engaging in objectionable behavior under the influence of alcohol will face legal consequences.

This adjustment in policy is indicative of a more lenient approach towards the transportation of sealed liquor bottles within the metro system. It acknowledges the evolving needs and preferences of passengers while emphasizing the importance of responsible and respectful conduct. The decision reflects a balance between allowing certain liberties for passengers and maintaining a secure and orderly environment within the metro system.

It is worth noting that the implementation of these revised rules is contingent on passengers adhering to the guidelines and refraining from violating the prohibition on inebriated behavior. The move also signals an acknowledgment of the responsibility shared between the metro authorities and passengers to ensure a safe and comfortable travel environment for all.
