Ameen Sayani, the legendary radio presenter known for his iconic show “Binaca Geet Mala,” passed away at the age of 91 on Tuesday.

His demise was a result of a heart attack, as confirmed by his son Rajil Sayani, who shared that despite efforts by doctors at HN Reliance Hospital, Mumbai, Sayani could not be saved.

His journey in broadcasting began in 1951 when he joined Radio Ceylon, where he started his illustrious career as a radio presenter.

Throughout his illustrious career spanning over six decades, Ameen Sayani produced and presented over 54,000 radio programs.

His signature phrase “Behno aur Bhaiyo” (sisters and brothers) became instantly recognizable, and his melodious voice left an indelible mark on Indian radio.

Apart from his radio endeavors, Sayani also ventured into acting, appearing in various films in minor roles, often portraying an announcer.
