Cyclone Michaung initially hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh before losing strength and is anticipated to dissipate further as it moves northward. IMD has issued warnings of potential heavy rainfall in certain areas, raising concerns for further flooding. Specifically, the regional meteorological center in Chennai has alerted about heavy rainfall in districts like Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Tirupur.

In response to the aftermath, over 9,000 officials from other districts have been deployed to assist in the relief efforts in Chennai. Their tasks include addressing issues related to water stagnation, the distribution of food supplies in affected areas, and clearing up fallen trees and waterlogged zones.

Efforts are underway to restore normalcy in Chennai. Train services from major terminals like Chennai Central and Egmore have been reinstated, with most mail and express services set to resume operations. Additionally, suburban train services across various sections have returned to their regular schedules since December 6.
