Indigo, one of India’s major airlines, is gearing up to make history at the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Uttar Pradesh. The big news? They’ve sealed the deal to be the very first airline to take off from NIA’s runways.

NIA, situated in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, is strategically located about 75 km away from Delhi. Once it’s up and running, it’s going to be the second international airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the third commercial airport overall.

The airport’s CEO, Christoph Schnellmann, is pretty stoked about teaming up with Indigo. He’s hyped about Indigo’s solid presence in both the domestic and international travel scenes, seeing it as a fantastic partnership.

Now, here’s the exciting bit about NIA’s development. They’re planning to complete the whole shebang in four phases. The first phase is set to wrap up by the end of 2024. This phase alone will handle about 1.2 crore passengers a year. And guess what? They’re starting with two runways and planning to keep expanding.

But wait, there’s more! As NIA progresses through all four phases, covering a massive 1,330 acres, they’re aiming to serve a jaw-dropping 7 crore passengers annually. Now that’s a lot of folks traveling! But to make all this happen, the development comes with a hefty price tag of about Rs 29,560 crore.

To not only boost air travel options but also to give travelers something new and exciting. It’s all about setting the stage for major growth and supercharged connectivity in the region.
